Pacman and Ghosts

Pacman and these ghosts were the first amigurumi patterns I came up with all by myself, circa Dec 2014. (For the strawberry pattern click here.)
These are really simple patterns but if you should have any trouble following my write-up, feel free to leave a comment here or send me a DM on instagram and I will give you a hand.

Pattern, yarn, and hook info below:
Yarn: Caron Simply Soft
Hook: 3.5 mm
Abbreviations:
ch -- chain
slst -- slip stitch
sc -- single crochet
dc -- double crochet
hdc -- half double crochet
^hdc^ -- [similar but NOT a half double crochet!] (1) yarn over, (2) pull active yarn through next stitch as you would at the start of a half double crochet -- you should now have 3 loops on your hook, (3) pull the first loop on your hook through the second loop, like a slip stitch -- you should be left with 2 loops, (4) now finish off the last two by hooking onto the active yarn and pulling it through both loops like a single crochet

Pacman pattern:
** Note: This pattern is done in three pieces that are then joined. Two of the pieces are identical -- the top and bottom semicircles.
Top and Bottom Semicircles (make two of these):
Row 1 -- start with a magic circle, sc 6 into the circle, slst to join the last stitch to the first
Row 2 -- ch 1, sc 2 into every stitch, slst to join [12 stitches total]
Row 3 -- ch 1, *sc, sc 2, repeat from (*) until the end of row, slst to join [18 stitches total]
Row 4 -- ch 1, *sc, sc, sc 2, repeat from (*) until the end of the row, slst to join [24 stitches total]
Row 5 -- ch 1, sc in each stitch, slst to join [24 stitches total]
Row 6 -- ch 2, dc in the first 6 stitches, ^hdc^ in next 2 stitches, sc in the next 2 stitches, slst in next 4 stitches, sc in next 2 stitches, ^hdc^ in next 2 stitches, dc in last 6 stitches, slst to join and end
Make a second, identical semicircle by following the same steps.
Mouth:
Row 1-4 -- same as Row 1-4 for the semicircles
Attaching the three parts:
Join the two semicircles by stitching together the 12 double crochet stitches (6 on either side of the seam). You should be left with 12 open stitches on either semicircle (24 open stitches total). Join the mouth piece to these open stitches, making sure to stuff the amigurumi before closing the piece. I like to stuff it before joining the last 6 stitches since that's a nice-sized hole.

Ghost pattern:
** Note: This pattern is done in two pieces that are then joined.
Body:
Row 1 -- start with a magic circle, sc 6 into the circle, slst to join the last stitch to the first
Row 2 -- ch 1, sc 2 into every stitch, slst to join [12 stitches total]
Row 3 -- ch 1, *sc, sc 2, repeat from (*) until the end of row, slst to join [18 stitches total]
Row 4-9 -- ch 1, sc in each stitch, slst to join [18 stitches total]
Row 10 -- ch 1, *sc, sc, sc 2, repeat from (*) until the end of the row, slst to join [24 stitches total]
Row 11 -- ch 1, *slst, [sc, hdc] into same stitch, dc, [sc, hdc] into same stitch, repeat from (*) until the end of the row, slst to join and end [36 stitches total]
Bottom:
Row 1-4 -- same as Row 1-4 for the body.
Attach this circular bottom piece to the body by joining its last row of 24 stitches with the 24 stitches in Row 10 of the body. Stuff the amigurumi before you join the last 6 stitches. Eyes and such are glued-on pieces of felt.

And that's it!
Enjoy~
